The provision of Wellbeing In Nature sessions has increased in demand, providing openings for those who can appreciate the potential. Gaining an Accredited qualification demonstrates a level of competence that ‘speaks’ to employers, funders and commissioning bodies.

At present, we are the only provider in England delivering this (Agored) Level 3 training and if you’re enthused by the idea of working with people in the outdoors to benefit their wellbeing then this Level 3 Practitioner training could be just the ticket. What you’ll learn will give you the knowledge, understanding and insight to deliver  meaningful sessions outdoors with the aim of improving mental health and physical and emotional wellbeing for adults and young people.

Nurturing awareness of how nature connection can soothe the over-thinking mind and rebalance emotions is central to the ethos of running Wellbeing in Nature sessions. The restorative effects to be gained through nature connection are well recognised and the provision of meaningful invitations that engage individuals with nature can foster deeper feelings of connection with themselves and others.

You can learn about the benefits of nature connection and how time spent in nature delivers mental health benefits by watching the video we’ve made to provide a more detailed explanation.

Our Wellbeing in Nature Level 3 training will be delivered using a blended learning approach, some online and some face to face at our woodland location in East Northants.

Our training model has been developed to meet the needs of those whose personal preferences, life circumstances or learning style would be best supported through the delivery of training coming to them, rather than them having to travel to a training venue for a block of 5 days.

Training courses will run 3 times a year, each one commencing online during September, January and May with a weekend face-to-face meet-up at our woodland base taking place in October, March and July respectively.

This course requires participants to be 18 years old or above and to be able to demonstrate they have worked with adults or young people in relation to benefitting their mental health, but not necessarily in an outdoor setting.

Wellbeing In Nature Level 3

Course Overview

There are 3 units contained in this Wellbeing In Nature qualification, plus a requirement to run 6 sessions at your own location, one of which will be assessed.

Unit 1 explores what Wellbeing In Nature is all about, concerning various theories and wellbeing models that underpin the Wellbeing in Nature model.

Unit 2 is concerned with the practicalities of delivering programmes outdoors, preparing you for running a block of 6 Wellbeing in Nature sessions at your setting. Unit 2 also covers topics such as inclusivity, managing individuals and groups and developing applicable policies and procedures for health and safety and insurance purposes.

Unit 3 involves developing an understanding of sustainability concerning the natural environment. Not only will you need to demonstrate that you have an understanding of caring for and nurturing nature, but how that knowledge will inform the way your Wellbeing in Nature sessions are run.

More about the Wellbeing In Nature Level 3 training

Our training model is a blended delivery approach that involves a two-day residential at our tranquil woodland in East Northants, plus group training sessions and one-to-one support delivered online via Zoom. This is a different approach than the more usual 5-day residential model.

The Wellbeing In Nature course is not something to be undertaken lightly. Study requirements are quite weighty, reflecting a depth of training aimed at producing benchmark-quality Wellbeing in Nature Practitioners. Course requirements involve answering over 30 questions, self-study of 100 hours and the planning and running of 6 Wellbeing in Nature sessions.

Our trainer, Susan Collini, has delivered this course several times and realised that, for a considerable number of students, the reality of juggling completion of the necessary coursework, in addition to home and work commitments, causes feelings of overwhelm that don’t contribute positively to their own wellbeing.

Our training model has been developed with the aim of meeting the needs of those whose personal preference or learning style would be best supported through the provision of time to complete coursework as they proceed along the training pathway. This model is proving to work well, lowering stress levels associated with being faced with the prospect of completing all the course work in one go after a 5-day residential.

We want to stress we are not saying our model of delivery is better than others, just different.

Optional free training in Mindfulness

Susan is a qualified Teacher, Hypno-Psychotherapist, Mindfuness Teacher and Forest School Leader who believes in the value of Practitioners nurturing greater self-awareness, to benefit their own wellbeing. To this end, our training model for the Level 3 WIN training also provides an optional 6 sessions of personal Mindfulness training, with additional advice and guidance for those wanting to include reflective practices within their Wellbeing in Nature provision. There is no additional cost required to take advantage of this extra training.
