Train to lead wellbeing in nature sessions
If you’re enthused by the idea of working with people in the outdoors to benefit their wellbeing then a Wellbeing In Nature Level 3 practitioner qualification could be just the ticket to get you up and running.
At Level 3 you will be trained to a level of ability to lead sessions with user groups in your location, whether that be a woodland, a coastal setting, or even in a garden. The location doesn’t matter at all, but obviously the type of Wellbeing in Nature sessions you run will vary according to the resources you have available to you.

What the Wellbeing In Nature course will do for you
This course has been carefully crafted over a number of years to provide a benchmark qualification that will provide employers and commissioning bodies with confidence about the quality of the practcitioner delivering sessions.
A national registration scheme is currently being developed which will go even further in providing professional recognition for those with a Level 3 Wellbeing In Nature qualification.
What you’ll learn
There are 3 units in the Level 3 Wellbeing In Nature qualification, plus an assessment of you running 6 sessions at your own location.
Unit 1 explores what Wellbeing In Nature is all about, with reference to various theories and wellbeing models that underpin this type of work.
Unit 2 is concerned more with the practicalities of running sessions and building awareness about what’s going to be appropriate for you to ensure you have in place before you start.
Unit 3 involves you demonstrating that you have an understanding about caring for and nurturing the natural environment and helping your clients to develop greater awareness in this important area.
How we deliver the course
Our trainer Susan Collini will deliver the Level 3 Wellbeing In Nature course with what’s known as a blended learning approach. Course content will be delivered on-line via Zoom and on a two-day residential at our woodland base in East Northants.
What’s different about our Level 3 course is the way it will be taught. Susan wants to work in a way that supports each student according to individual need as she has learned, from past delivery of this course, that students often struggle with completing their required coursework because ‘life’ gets in the way. Whether that’s personal or working life – stuff happens!
Our approach is one where students can opt to do one unit and then take a break, engaging with another unit when they feel they can. This is an ideal approach for people where such flexibility will lower stress and anxiety levels, something we all suffer from when there’s really too much on our plate. Susan’s experience of running the course has demonstrated that many students find the reality of completing the required coursework rather overwhelming.
Supporting student needs
That’s why we’re offering a different model, for people who lead busy, busy lives and who would appreciate a level of support that’s personalised to meet their needs. It also means you can stagger payments for the course, particularly helpful if you are going to be self-funding.
Additionally, working with someone who will act more as a mentor and coach than a trainer may well suit your preferred learning style, as opposed to attending a 5 day course and then being more or less left to your own devices to research, write up and submit what is actually quite a body of work to complete.
Susan’s training model is geared to walk with students as they travel along their learning pathway, offering personalised support and guidance along the way. Students will also undoubtedly benefit from Susans’ considerable experience of working in various capacities with people in the outdoors, in roles including Forest School Leader, Social Forester and an accredited Mindfulness Teacher.
Susan’s work as a hypno-psychotherapist significantly influences her person-centered approach and her breadth of experience in the field of delivering Wellbeing in Nature sessions spans many years.
