Hapa Zome

As Forest Bathing (Shinrin-Yoku) is Japanese in origin the art of Hapa Zome (lead-dye)is too.

The reflective gathering of leaves and flowers from around the woodland, being mindful about the gathering process, is followed by arranging the plant matter onto a piece of cloth which is then hammered to release the pigments.

Nature connection

The gathering of leaves and other plant materials help cultivate a state of focussed attention, the basis of mindfulness, noticing more than you would usually.

Enter the flow state

Connecting with nature through painting or sketching encourages entering the ‘flow state’ where focussed attention flows and the effect is mentally restorative. We have a range of arts materials for people to engage with.

Nature immersion

Spending time in nature, exploring ways to ‘just be’ not only helps calm both body and mind but restores emotional balance.
